Sonoff ZBDongle-E - ZigBee Gateway - USB Interface

ZBDongle-E from Sonoff is a Zigbee 3.0 gateway that communicates with devices such as a PC, laptop or Raspberry Pi via a USB connector. The module is intended for use in networks including: smart home (e.g. Home Assistant ZGA, OpenHAB, Zigbee2MQTT). Works with Windows , macOS and Linux operating systems (including Raspberry Pi OS). It can work as a coordinator or router after changing the installed software. The gate is based on the EFR32MG21 system. The transmitter output power is 20 dBm by default, while the current consumption does not exceed 100 mA. The gateway supports many ZigBee devices from various manufacturers. Zigbee is a wireless communication standard created to ensure a safe and stable connection between devices. Its maximum data transfer rate of up to 250 kbps makes it used in networks that transmit only key operational information, such as information about button presses or battery level. It is characterized by very low energy consumption, while providing an operating range of up to 100 m. Zigbee devices are divided into three types:

• Coordinator (ZC) - Each Zigbee network requires exactly one coordinator to manage its operation and store information such as security keys.
• Router (ZR) - forwards the received data further, increasing the network range. Most Zigbee devices can act as it.
• End device (ZED) - transmits data to the router or coordinator to which it is connected. One-way transmission provides the ability to sleep to reduce energy consumption.
