Description

Description

Shield forRaspberry Pi, version A+ / B+ / 2 / 3 / 3+ / Zero / Zero W with 16-channel, 12-bit PWM controller for LED control, or analog servos based on system PCA9685. The output frequency is programmable in the range from 40 Hz to 1000 Hz. On board is also a place for creating prototype system.

The shield has connectors suitable for Raspberry Pi, DB9 connector, goldpin connectors, the ability to connect another shields, and create prototype systems.

System PCA9685 has jumpers for soldering allowing you to set one of the five I2C addresses. This allows for the cascade connection of many boards.

Analog servos

The module only works with analog servos. Digital servos do not work with this shield. Although the board has 12-bit controller, available are only about 200 steps of the servo. This is due to their construction.

The product is compatible with Raspberry

The manufacturer provides sample libraryto control the module.

Power

For safety reasons, the power line 5 V of the Raspberry, is not connected with the power of the board. High currents used by servos, could damage minicomputer. It is recommended to connect a separate power supply to the Servo PI through pins 5 V and GND on the shield. When using two power supplies, you must combine the grounds of both of them. Using a small current up to 300 mA, system can be powered from Raspberry through the combination of the jumper PWR Linkvia solder. In this way, you can also power the Raspberry from the shield Servo Pi, however, it omits the internal fuse and exposes minicomputer to damage.
