Description

Description: Adafruit ADS1015 - ADC 12-bit 4-channel I2C converter

Module with analog-to-digital converter with 12-bit accuracy. Operates at speed up to 3300 samples per second, it can be configured in 4-channelmode or with two differential inputs. Has the ability to programmatically change amplification up to 16x. The system is supplied with the voltage from 2 V to 5 V. The board consists of ferrite chokes which filter voltage.

For communication used is the popular I2C interface with a choice of one of five available 7-bit addresses. This solution enables the connection of several convertors on the one bus. Detail inthe remaining part of the description.

The product is compatible with Arduino and Raspberry Pi

The manufacturer provides the sample code for Raspberry Pi (available inthe library Adafruit Pi Python) andthe library for Arduino on GitHubalong witha detailed description of the connection.

Connection

All leads have been properly signed on Board:

  • VDD- low voltage from range of 2.0 V - 5.5 V
  • GND- mass system
  • SCL - the clock line of the I2C bus
  • SDA- data line of the I2C bus
  • ADDR- the address selection of I2C bus
  • ALRT - alarm generated when the analog value exceeds the threshold
  • A-, A0, A1, A2, A3, A+ - analog inputs

Leads are soldering fields for soldering the attachedconnectors goldpin 2.54 mm pitch. They make it possible to connect the system with the breadboardor with the main module (e.g. Raspberry Pi orArduino) viawires.

The address selection I2C bus

To change the 7-bit address from default 0x48 (1001000), ADR pin connectto:

  • 0x48 (1001000) ADR -> GND
  • 0x49 (1001001) ADR -> VDD
  • 0x4A (1001010) ADR -> SDA
  • 0x4B (1001011) ADR -> SCL
