Rooibos is a mild, reddish-brown tea rich in antioxidants. Naturally caffeine-free, this slightly sweet and nutty brew can be enjoyed any time.

Botanical name: Aspalathus linearis

Rooibos (pronounced "roy-boss") is a broom-like member of the legume family of plants. It is made from the dried, oxidized young leaves and branches of Aspalathus linearis. Rooibos (translated from Afrikaans) means "red bush", which is why the tea is often referred to as bush tea or red tea. Used for centuries in South Africa, Rooibos is becoming more popular in Europe and the United States because of its lack of caffeine and smooth, mild flavor.

Rooibos is cultivated in the Cederberg region, which is a mountainous area north of Cape Town South Africa

Frontier Co-op Bulk Organic, Fair Trade Certified™ Rooibos Tea is a mild, reddish-brown tea alternative with a smooth, fruity-floral, slightly sweet and nutty tea-like flavor that requires no sweetening. Caffeine-free, it makes an ideal evening brew and a wonderful tea to drink with a dessert course.

Suggested use

Rooibos tea brewing basics: Put 1 tsp. of tea in strainer, then place in cup. Add 8 oz. of boiling water and steep for 3-5 minutes. Feel free to adjust to your preference.
