Frontier Co-op dried juniper berries are naturally grown and harvested to deliver a spice that easily compliments many types of meat, drinks, and prepared dishes. The powerful pine aroma makes it a popular ingredient in gin and tonic. The spicy, pine flavor with its hint of citrus makes it a very common ingredient in casseroles, duck, pork, and even drinks like hot teas.

FLAVORFUL AND AROMATIC -The berries are commonly added to alcoholic beverages such as gin and tonic, giving them a spicy, pine-like aroma. To enhance the flavor of casseroles, meats, and even beverages, the juniper berries can be added whole or crushed to provide a sweet, robust flavor. They are commonly used to also enhance the aroma and flavor of pork, beef, venison, and duck, adding a piney flavor with a hint of citrus.

Origin Bulgaria

Botanical name Juniperus communis L.

JUNIPER BERRIES - Frontier Co-op offers high quality juniper berries (Juniperus communis L.) originating from Bulgaria. If you’ve enjoyed a gin and tonic, you know the taste of juniper berries as they are best known for flavoring gin and other liqueurs, but have many culinary uses as well. The berries are the ripe dried cones from the juniper evergreen shrub. Frontier Co-op juniper berries are certified kosher and non-irradiated.

FLAVOR AND AROMA - The flavor of this deep blue berry is anything but ordinary. Juniper berries have an intensely spicy/sweet flavor with a piney aroma. Juniper berries used for culinary purposes are riper with a slightly different stronger flavor profile.

VERSATILE USES - Juniper berries have many culinary uses. The berries are delicious when added sparingly in stews and soups, with meats and vegetables. Use them in marinades and sauces to rub over meat before grilling or roasting. Juniper berries are best known as the flavoring agent in gin and other liqueurs.

SOURCED FROM BULGARIA - Frontier Co-op juniper berries are sourced from Bulgaria. Our juniper berries are certified kosher and non-irradiated. Frontier Co-op never uses any artificial chemicals or additives during growing or processing.
