The set is equipped with a Grove sensor that measures ORP (HR-O) to detect the quality of the liquid by measuring the purity of water and determining its ability to break down impurities. The set also includes an ORP probe with IP68 tightness class, its length is 5 meters . The detection range of the probe is from -2000 mV to 2000 mV , and the temperature allowing for correct measurement is from 0°C to 80°C . The kit is compatible with Arduino.

The principle of operation of the ORP sensor

The Oxidation-Reduction Potential (ORP) sensor measures the activity of oxidants and reducing agents in an aqueous solution. This is a potentiometric measurement from a two-electrode system similar to a pH sensor , sometimes referred to as redox measurement. Unlike the pH sensor, the redox sensor measures the ratio of oxidized to reduced forms of all chemicals in an aqueous solution, thus determining the ability of a lake or river to self-purify or decompose waste. It is generally accepted that in typical settings, such as spas, safe values are between 650 mV and 750 mV.

There may be white solid granular crystals around the probe cover - this is normal. This is because the sensor probe cover is filled with a potassium chloride solution to protect it. They appear as a result of temperature changes, environmental changes or oxidation reduction in the normal storage or transport environment. However, this does not affect the nature of the internal potassium chloride solution or the normal operation of the sensor.
