How The Water Came to a Boil

In 1970, John Harney embarked on a mission to share his love for tea with the world. As an investor in Sarum Tea Company and tea enthusiast, he committed himself to learning the fine art of tea. Pastime turned to passion and John's creed was heard, "We offer the finest tea in the world at a price that makes it an everyday luxury." Today, the Harneys, John, Michael and Paul source tea from the most reputable and well-established tea gardens and estates in the world. Accepting only the exceptional.

We Are Master Tea Blenders

From the tea garden to your teacup the Harneys manage the process. Cupping great teas, blending them into unique and uncommon blends that are packaged in our state-of-the-art facility and shipped directly to you.

Harney & Sons tea selection offers over 300 varieties of the highest quality leaves one can steep including specialty-blended teas by John Harney, the Master Blender himself.

Suggested use

Brewing Instructions

The tea you brew is only as good as the water you use. So, please use fresh water without chlorine or sulfur.

Black Teas, Black Flavored Teas and Herbals

To enjoy a delicious pot of tea, please preheat your pot for a minute with boiling water then discard this water. Place a teaspoon for tea per desired cup into the pot and pour boiling water over the tea. Brew 4-5 minutes. Strain and remove the tea leaves.

Green Teas

Doing less is the secret for making great green teas. Do not preheat the pot. Place a teaspoon of tea per desired cup into the pot and pour less than boiling water (180°F) over the tea. Most Japanese teas should be brewed for 1 minute and most Chinese green teas for 3 minutes. Strain and remove the tea leaves.

If the tea in this bag requires special attention in preparation, those instructions are in the bag.

Other ingredients

Black tea, oolong tea, natural vanilla, black currant, caramel flavors & bergamot oil.
