The Calcutta Conquest is the flagship model of the round profile baitcasting reels in the Shimano Europe range. On the first sight, it looks identical to the previous generation but some important improvements have been made for this technological advanced ‘big fish / big lure’ fishing machine. The braking system changed (and the side plate as well, no external dial unit anymore), the levelwind is now synchronizing with the line on the spool, the gear ratio is changed to 6.2:1 and the drag now has a ticking sound (like a spinning reel) when line gets pulled of the spool. This is an incredible breakthrough in design and delivers an outstanding level smoothness without sacrificing strength or durability. The enhanced smoothness results in greater sensitivity transmitted from your rod, line and lure to your hand. XSHIP: - XShip is a combination of features that work together to create much greater efficiency. By positioning the pinion gear close to the centre line of the large diameter drive gear, more power is transferred from the handle to the rotor. The pinion gear is also supported by two Shimano ARB roller bearings. This creates more stability. HAGANE BODY: - The HAGANE Body is produced from highrigidity aluminium or magnesium. This creates stiffness and impact resistance, while at the same time eliminating flexing of the body. The result is a rocksolid housing and support for the moving internal gearing and greater efficiency throughout the reel. S3D SPOOL: - Shimano´s S3D technology leads to significantly reduced spool vibration. By designing a balanced and uninform thin wall aluminium constructed spool, S3D creates an incredibily smooth feeling when casting and retrieving lures. COMPACT_BODY: - A compact body is a reel with a smaller body than usual, when you compare it to the line capacity of a equivalent model. For example: a size 3000 reel and a size C3000 reel have the same line capacity, but the C3000 has a smaller body. S ARB: - Shimano S ARB bearings are high corrosion resistant ARB ball bearings with an extra shield for improved protection against sand, salt or dust. SUPER FREE SYSTEM: - The Super Free bearing supported pinion gear system (SF) was designed to eliminate friction on the spool shaft during the cast. In standard baitcasting reels, when the clutch bar is pressed down, the pinion gear is freed and can actually drag on the spool shaft, creating friction and limiting the length of the cast. With SF, the pinion gear is supported by a ball bearing, and when the clutch is disengaged the pinion gear and spool shaft are kept in precise alignment. The result is zero friction on the spool shaft for increased freespool.
