In The Spanish Home Kitchen, José Pizarro returns to his mother’s home to take inspiration from the flavours he grew up with and shares more than 80 of her favourite recipes, collected from all over Spain.
José Pizarro grew up in the centre-west of Spain, in the small town of Talaván. His family were farmers for generations and he spent his childhood on his parents’ farm, helping his father produce vegetables, dairy products and different meats. Life in this small town centred on dinner, with great recipes passed down from generation to generation, from his grandmother to his mother and now to him.
Recipes include: Iberian pork shoulder in a rich tomato sauce with spicy couscous; breadcrumbs with fried egg, chorizo and bacon; grilled squid with fennel and caramelized onion and a lemon and parsley dressings; cherries in syrup with pistachio ice cream.
From nostalgic recipes from his childhood that his mother fed the family, to more modern recipes with his Spanish touch, there are recipes for all tastes.
