Description

WHI is a medium thick trekking sock containing merino wool, which is a unique natural material and provides excellent thermal insulation and moisture removing properties. The sock is made of a two-layer and smooth knit. The toe and Achilles‘ heel section are made of a two-layer reinforced plush, offering high mechanical resistance and protection against corns and calluses. Wool has excellent antibacterial properties and reduces unpleasant odours. Merino wool: - Merino wool comes from specially bred sheep living in cold and wet regions. In this harsh nature, sheep produce natural fibers, which man cannot. However they can fortunately process them. These fibers are much finer than traditional wool. Merino wool is silky soft, has a higher insulation ability and is more breathable. Underwear made of long fibers of very fine merino wool, provides the user with comfort and softness. Each fiber is corrugated and elastic, which brings high durability and long service life of the fabric. Thanks to the elasticity of the fiber, woolen clothes do not wrinkle. Wool fibers are highly hydrophilic and have a high absorption capacity. The wool does not melt or burn, it also provides high protection against UV radiation. Its production is environmentally friendly and based on the principle of renewable resources. Insolation and thermoregulation: - Merino wool fabric insulates extremely well. The fiber has a very curly structure, thanks to which millions of tiny air pockets are created, which take care of insulating body heat. Merino wool works according to body temperature in accordance with body thermoregulation. It regulates body temperature by absorbing and releasing moisture. This ensures that your body has the same temperature even when the intensity of movement changes. When it is cold and humid, merino fiber absorbs this moisture and creates so-called sorption heat. In a warm environment, merino wool regulates the temperature through the process of ´´evaporative cooling´´. This is the same as the one our body uses – it releases sweat to cool down. Odor control: - Merino wool has a natural resistance to the growth of microbes and has the ability to repel odor. You can wear merino for many days without a trace of odor. The reason is the combination of wool´s extraordinary ability to absorb moisture and the heterogeneity of fibers with a very rugged surface. The odor is caused by bacteria that prefer an unprotected surface, flat walls, therefore bacteria thrive in synthetic fabrics but not in natural merino wool.
